Lil Dragon: 1 year 4 months

Here is the little sweetheart.
Little girls are essentially made of candies and everything nice.
Like the Powerpuff girls :)
Her dad and I are helpless when it comes to disciplining this one.
Even when she blows raspberries at Tiger, we both find it so cute,
much to Tiger's dismay.

The most important milestone that has taken place?
She has self-weaned.
My boobs are no longer needed.
It is sad and liberating at the same time.
Now, when I offer her "nenen" she just shakes her head.
I am still sad :(
But Hubby is obviously delighted =.="

I was packing her old clothes for a friend the other day and they are so teeny
compared to her current one!

Sigh, they all grow up so fast, don't they?
Next thing you know, I will be practising my getridofboyfriends skills.

Those who passes Level One must then go through my
"50 rules for dating my daughter" rule book.
Pity her future boyfriends.

<<<>>>

School wise,
I do not get to dictate anything with this one.
She loves the ELC easy painters and orange Crayolas.
First thing she will do is 'conteng' the floor.
Then, she will sign open for the ELC painters.
If I refuse, she will do that 'kesian' face and for maximum effect,
purse lips and make tiny rabbit noises.
Works. Every. Single. Time.

Socially, she is no longer scared of strangers!!!
Crap!
I was counting on that to be my safety net but
she winks at people who walks past her.
Or she starts a game of peekaboo.

I think she is going to be the one to give me a weak heart.
You know, the one who goes skiing, sky diving, bungee jumping....just for fun.
Why?
You know those 2 storey high indoor slides?
She actually pushes me away so that she can ride solo.
CRAZY GIRL!

Right now. she says pretty much the same things and she still calls me
MAK or BAK (which is sister in Indon)
=.="
She is seriously considering kakak as her mom.

Watching Youtube vidoes with Papa.

Wish I have more hours everyday so that I can divide equal time between the two.
Sigh, being a mom is so tough, isn't it?

Tot School: Bugs Week

This is part 1 of Bugs Week and as expected, my Boss, the Tiger didn't like the trays.
Part 2, the holiday; he likes  ;)
He called everything, from ants to lizards 'Kah Kah'.
Mommy: Spider
Tiger: Kah kah
Mommy: Beetle
Tiger: Kah kah
Mommy: Caterpillar
Tiger: Kah kah
 You get the picture....

I forgot to take a picture of the Tot Tray setup :p

This messy bug bin was a hit.
He searched for it EVERYDAY.
I hid it, of course :p
Otherwise, this will be all that we do ^.^

There aren't many pics this week due to the fact that
he likes to cover the camera lens with his hands nowadays.

Like this, in a I-am-a-celebrity-get-outta-my-way-you-paparazzi kinda way!!

This is one of the trays.
It was supposed to be a mystery bag but he refused to put his hand in.
=.="
This is quite a cool set.

I copied this from Math week.
I was neither imaginative nor very inspired by bugs, sorry kiddo...
We used alphabets A to N instead.

We enjoyed his new dry erase board.
We use Crayola's Dry Erase Crayons instead of markers (for cleaning purposes)
He was such an artist this week.
I wrote letter 'n' and we traced it  together many times
Note: The ugly stick figure at the upper right corner is Mommy's work.
So is the cute bee & butterfly

Printout from makinglearningfun.com
He used the new bright dry erase crayons on paper   =.="

We made a card for friend's fullmoon party
(We Chinese celebrate the 1 month old babies with lavish parties)
My poor boy, painting his heart out.
Hubby commented that 'people' is probably going to toss it away like rubbish.
True, not everyone will understand art at its finest.

We love our 'chop-chop'

He dug out the IKEA plates and cups.
I tried to get him to do matching but he had better ideas.
He pretend to drink from each cup with a convincing satisfied  "Aaahhh" after each drink.

He felt very musical and raided his music drawer.
The shots are blurry cause he wouldn't stop dancing.

Castanet

Chinese musical device. Cute drum thingy that Grandpa bought from China especially for the brat.
You can get anything made-in-China in Malaysia but it's the thought that counts.
So, my dear Little Tiger, please think of Grandpa as more than Grandpa.
He LOVES you to bits even if he doesn't say it.

His 10-bucks-xylophone. (Yup, that's what we are calling it, proudly)

Mommy redeemed RM 50 from ToysRus and bought well, a lot more than that..hmm
Included in the spree is this tunnel.
LOVED it!
He rolled, kicked, laughed, crawled & hid for an hour.

Things aren't always fun and perfect in Tiger's Tot School.

He didn't enjoy the bugs printout for the pocket chart.
We didn't do any right brain training.
He detest Little Reader at the moment.
I am afraid to put on Tweedlewink DVDs cause he will ask to do the Numbers Song from Youtube.

So there, our imperfect world that I love..

Reading-Frenzy

Tiger is a real good kid. Despite the fact that I always occasionally portray him in a bad light to make myself look good.

He's not just a 'dirty' kid.

He has also blossomed into a voracious 'reader' that matches his appetite for gummy bears.

These are some shots from Math Week when he was super hardworking and loved school. We are slacking a bit during Bugs Week but it's ok, we are going to have fun next week.

Lately, he has made it a habit to choose a book of his liking and bringing to me. Then he would sit in my lap as we read together. It warms my heart just thinking about it :)

For some reason, he loves this bulky nursery rhymes book.

Occasionally, he acts grown-up and brings it to his little table and 'reads' to himself.
He loves moving his finger along the print as he reads.

He looks so prim and proper here...

He thoroughly enjoyed all the books I have chosen for Math Week.
His No.1 book was this simple numbers book with bright pictures.
This was closely followed by: Please Get The Moon For Me.

Again with his favourite book.
Now he would go through all the books and give me a "All done"
Sometimes, we will go to his reading corner for more.

I love that he enjoys this little reading corner of his.
It is also Mommy's I-am-not-sleeping-Just-closing-my-eyes corner :p

This was last Sunday, immediately after he woke up from sleep.
What a nerd!

He also enjoys flipping through mommy's books.
Who said toddlers love picture books only?

Being a little monkey.
Books are for redecorating too...=.="

Funnies: *Dirty* Little Boy

Tiger is definitely my kiddo despite the fact that he refuse to acknowledge the fact that I am his MAMA!
Why? Cause he is as dirty-minded as mommy or dang, is it daddy? I mean, all guys are horny...

Anyway, here's the scoop:

He's usually with me when I get dressed in the mornings. So, I am used to naming body parts for him. He already know all the basic ones.

So, yesterday morning, he pointed at mommy's boobs and said "pou pou" which means well, boobs in Chinese.

I was shocked but as a professional mommy, I kept a straight face and I said, "Yes, that's right. These are pou pou."

The laa-tee-dah, I left for work and forgot about it.

When I came home that evening,

I asked Tiger: "How was your day? Were you a good boy?" (The usual blah-blah)

Out of the blue, MIL replied: "Today, your son poked at my breasts and said pou pou. He also tried to bounce them."

Mommy: Blink blink..then ROFL...

Ah, the joys of motherhood and a joker kid...

I am glad that Tiger can identify one more body part, but...

I hope he doesn't go around pointing them out in public. That would be embarrassing, even for me.

Disclaimer:
If anyone from the social welfare department is reading this, please note that my son is a little precocious and curious in 'this' department. There is no abuse or hanky-panky or any sort in my house.

I abhor child pornography but I love taking naked pics of my son. They're so cute and also handy for blackmail later in life. You know, in case Tiger brings home a girl I do not approve of or if he leaves me in a old folks home kinda thing.

I'd Pick More Daisies

Letter to Tiger Thursday

Dear Tiger,

I am not going to pretend that I read poems all the time and serenaded you with my beautiful sing-song voice. I have neither the patience nor intelligence to decipher what the heck the writers/poem-ist are trying to say behind their flowery and complicated language.

This one poem struck a chord when I first read it because I hope when I am fifty, I don't have to write about my regrets in life. I hope it leaves an impression on you to live your life to the fullest and to reach for the stars.

Mommy will be right behind you every step of the way.

So, if you tell me that you wish to be a ballerina in thights, I will bite my tongue and nod my head encouragingly. Should dementia set in early, please print out this letter to remind me, ok?

If I Had My Life Over - I'd Pick More Daisies

Nadine Stair

If I had my life to live over, I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I'm one of those people who lived sensibly and sanely, hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I've had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I'd have more of them.
In fact, I'd try to have nothing else.
Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.
I've been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute.
If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.
If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daisies.
Note: The line I would go to more dances does not translate to clubbing every weekend, well unless you take me along. Then, can...

Lots of love,

Mommy

Mini Bugs Bin

Since I am a Lazy Mama these days, most things come in mini versions. They are cuter too, like mini poodle, Mini Cooper, etc.

Also, most themes are extended two weeks cause umm....we want to have a better understanding of whatever we are doing. (Tiger would roll his eyes, if he could)

I was wasn't planning to do a bin of any sort (coz again, I am lazy) but the brat didn't want to do 'match-ze-inzect-to-ze-flashcards'. So, I had to get sleazy
I just grabbed whatever was within reach and threw it together. The kiddo was tricked and he loved it.

"Muaahahahaha..."

Here's the Bugs Bin (after Tiger attacked it, I swear it was prettier):

A just expired bag of spiral pasta & rubber bugs.
I used a small box as the usual container would require a few bags of pasta.
Besides, 1 bag is already more than enough for clean up time.
Believe me, there is a lot of cleaning up with just 1 bag.

The bin had his undivided attention for 30 minutes.
He did lots of scooping.

...and scooped till he was bored.

Then, he developed a love for pom-poms out of the blue.

When I say, "Bugs bin?"
He replied, "gibberish" and added his whining and leg stomping drama.

Of course he got what he wanted: not 1 but 2 boxes of pom-pom
He filled up the entire can, no joke...
Well, it was good practice for his pincer grip

Then he decided that Mommy needed to do some sorting and the bin was too bland.
So, graciously, he tipped the pom-poms into the bin.
Then, he looked at me with menace and did an evil laugh.
Or did I imagine it as my eyes tear up?

Then, he did some transferring before he quickly thought of more work for Mommy

"I think I'll just scoop it across the room...Muahahahaha"

Then he stepped on them for that delicious cracking sound...
Lots of sensory fun for him and more work for lazy mommy..
Serves me right for being sluggish...

We love messy play, don't you?

Tot School:Rounding Up Math Week

‘Un’schooling Tiger Week 15(15th- 28th Oct 2011) @ 17 months

Letter M
Theme: Math/Money/Numbers

We are wrapping up maths after 2 weeks. He really enjoyed the tot trays. So much so that he did not ask for worksheets! He also enjoyed singing to 10 Little Numbers and Phonics Song on Youtube.

There is an unwritten law that singing can only take place after school work.
And we know who makes the law around here, that will be MOMMY!
Well, I'm boss most of the time anyways.
OK, sometimes...urmmm maybe once in a while.
Fine, I'll admit it...
there are days when we do nothing except singing the same
bl**dy songs repetitively until I fall asleep.

This is my lil' techie trying to play his songs by climbing onto the chair and clicking the mouse like mad.

In a rather unknowing manner, my son has turned into the family jester. Proof:

Last Saturday, my youngest sister, her boyfriend (Clement) and my lil' brother came over for dinner. After thay sat down, Clement asked, "What new tricks can he do now?" I replied indignantly, "Ahem, you think my son is a clown?" Then I turned to Tiger and made him 'perform' his new funny sign 'crying'. (He closes his eyes with his fingers and say wuuhuuhuuhuu dramatically). Such cruelty, I know.

Then, last night, hubby's nephews came over for barbecue and just for fun, I ask Tiger to do  'farting'...hehe...and he did! He lifted one leg and and made farting noise. Wahahaha!
Cuckoo mommy = crazy kiddo.
I throw him a biscuit after each trick. Just kidding :p

On to Tot School business:

I am listing his trays by popularity (as voted by Tiger, tallied by Mommy):

No. 1:  Eva foam Numbers.
He LOVED these.
I think because he can show off by completing it without my help!

No. 2: Small pegged numbers puzzle.
Minimal help from Mommy

No.3: Abacus
He enjoyed counting in his own language and added some 'teens' behind his 'numbers'
I caught a few 'fourteeng's and 'eighteeng's

No. 4: ELC foam numbers
For some reasons, he really enjoyed these.
I used them to put on a show with the abacus.
We counted, sang, used the numbers to move the beads, rolled off the abacus...
He had a blast...

No.5: The pocket chart.
He loved messing up the numbers!
At least it was good fine motor practise.

No. 6: Magnetic numbers
Excellent for hand eye coordination.

Least popular: Mini Numbers Pegs
Still too advanced for him.
He just tried to put them upright in the tray

Best of the week:
Reading frenzy!!

Exhaustion...Reading is hard work  =.="

Boo boo of the week: Mild influenza
That means no water play or messy art.
Instead, we played with SAND!!
Thanks to Aunty Sharon who lugged it back for us from Midvalley!!
It was RM 19 instead the usual RM29.90 from ELC

I tried to make it interesting but he was bored and covered in sweat after a while.
He went to check out the dry fountain.
Ah, children and their amazing observations.
Notice the broom?
Well, Tiger did...

The place smelled of cow dung because daddy drove over some the night before.
Apparently, Tiger's not very tolerant of the smell too.
So, he tried to help.
Hmmm, if only Daddy was as helpful...

Update on playroom:
It gets its daily dose of love from Tiger.
Occasionally, he will attack the the tiny train town with his baskets.
He loves the wedgits and the sponge alphabets

Tiger is a rascal.
Proof: Caught in the act of throwing the ball at me!

Mommy's fav shot:
My classy boy..
I swear he didn't learn this from me, or did he?

I am sure he will miss Math Week, but we all have to move on in life.
I hope he enjoys bug week cause, ummm, I don't. I'll pretend I LOVE bugs,,,yucks...
