Dinosaur Sensory Box

I planned to do sensory box when he is a little older but I am glad I started early. We LOVE our sensory box. The dinosaur box was our first. The sensory box is technically not Montessori but it has all the right criterias.

For me, the best thing about the sensory box is, it is so easy to put together and even easier to clean up. Just throw everything back into the box and put on the lid.

Tiger love it too. He is his own teacher and he does the funniest and most surprising things. I just sit back and observe.

Here's Tiger with the Dinosaur Seonsory Box aka Mr Popular:

Before Tiger
Ingredients:
1. dinosaur figurines
2. all shades of green pom-poms, porcupine rubber balls with small bowl for transfering
3. miniature trees (Tiger like this more than the dinosaurs!!)
4. dishwashing sponges
5. styrofoam peanuts
6. square and triangular pieces of not-too-small green corrugated, foam and plain papers
*Nothing too small to prevent choking as he is still mouthing occasionally and teething but I put 1 teeny pom pom to test.

After Tiger:
Checking the crime scene

Diving right in.
Last week he 'pretended' to be scared to put his hands in  o.O

 OCD at work.
Here he is trying to put everything upright.

Scooping dinosaur eggs

Skip counting with dinosaur. The T-Rex is his favourite

Blowing down the trees which is more like spitting actually...LOL.
You can actually see the spit in this shot

This is his favourite dino song to go with the box:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbKuGo-hTSM
He roars with the stegosauraus in the middle of the song and he will always dance to it. :)

We put the sensory box to good use for learning different concepts as well: hard, soft, large, small, fuzzy, prickly, many, little, etc. The list is never ending.

This dinosaur box was long overdue but I didn't have the heart to change it cause Tiger asked for it daily by signing 'dinosaur'.

Also, it is kinda hard to think of stuff to put in the box because Tiger's teething and he kept drooling and putting things into his mouth. I finally changed it last night, I hope he likes the new colour and shapes box. Fingers crossed....

Here's a sneak peek:
